Bankruptcies Drop in August, 2006.

The latest bankruptcy statistics for August, 2006 were released on the internet by Industry Canada on September 29, 2006.

Consumer bankruptcies fell 4.6% (6,625/6,941);

Business bankruptcies fell 15.6% (467/553;

Proposals rose 11.1% (1,748/1,574);

Overall, Insolvencies fell 2.5% (8,840/9,068).

Year to date:

Consumer bankruptcies were down 6.3%

Business bankruptcy were down 11.6%

Proposals were up 3.6%

Total insolvencies were down 4.9%
