Anthony: If you mean can you travel after your discharge from bankruptcy or change your address then the answer is there is no restriction now, or while you are in bankruptcy.

Louise: Don't try to hide these from the creditors. This is a serious offense and could jeopardize your husband's discharge from bankruptcy. You or your husband can buy his share back from the trustee.

Karen: Those are decisions only you can make. You might want to set up a free consultation with a trustee to learn how bankruptcy will affect you. That might help you decide what to do.

I have about $23000 in credit card and $30000 in credit line debts and $29000 in student loan. I finished university in 2007 but have not found a job yet. Though I am trying hard to pay the minimum monthly, I am so desperate now and am considering to file bankruptcy. I saw there is a discharge period of 9 months, is that to say I can go freely anywhere I want after that period? Thanks a lot.

My husband is considering declaring bankrputcy. We have some RESPs for our children that are in both of our names. Is there any way to protect them? We have read that we can purchase them back from the trustee - what does this mean? We are considering moving them anyway - would we be able to move them prior to filing and put then in only my name? Will this protect them?

I am receiving a pension of $1395. a month and have debts aquired in a second marriage of about $35,000.
I have no assets other than some furniture.

I stopped making payments on credit cards about 18 months ago and have remained incognito.

I understand that at present I would be jugement proof.
I would like to open a bank account and I understnad that when I do so I will then be revealing my whereabouts to creditors.
Should I remain incognito and not be able to open a bank account for the next six years?
Should I reveal my whereabouts and then count of being judgement proof?
Or should I declare bankruptcy and then have no more concerns about creditors?
Thank you for your help

Samantha: Sorry but too many questions and not enough information to answer in this forum. I suggest you see a trustee for free consultation which will take about an hour.

Sandue: I don't think this would have anything to do with the fact you were bankrupt.

Hi there,
I have about $35,000 in credit card and bank loan debts. I am living common law, have no dependants, and make about $45,000 a year. If I claim bankruptcy will it be discharged in 9 months with the new bankruptcy laws? Also, I have a financed vehicle worth about $8,000. Will I be able to keep it and continue making monthly payments? And lastly, would it be okay if I got a prepaid mastercard for emergencies (before discharge) since there is no credit involved?
Thanks for your help!
